Coimbatore: Newly wed woman consumed poison after 5 months of marriage as her husband was an alcoholic. The case is being taken up by RTO investigation.
The marriage relationship became rocky as the husband often got into a dispute asking money for alcohol. Gurumurthy (age 24), a labourer, is from Dhanalakshmi nagar, Narasimhanaickenpalayam near Coimbatore. He fell in love with Loganayaki (19) from Sathyamangalam, Erode district. Their parents strongly objected to this. Yet despite the opposition the two of them got married 5 months ago and settled in Dhanalakshmi nagar.
Gurumurthy's relative contacted Loganayaki's mother Shanthi on her cell phone and informed that her daughter consumed poison and was being taken to the hospital. Shocked to hear this, she came to Coimbatore with her relatives and visited Loganayaki who was admitted to a private hospital in Thudiyalur and was receiving treatment.
Following this, Loganayaki was admitted to Coimbatore Government Hospital for further treatment. There she was given intensive treatment by doctors, yet she died tragically yesterday as treatment failed. Periyanaickenpalayam police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that Gurumurthy had beaten and harassed Loganayaki asking for money to drink alcohol. It has been revealed that she committed suicide in anger against her husband. The Coimbatore North RDO is investigating the death of Loganayaki as it is only 5 months into her marriage.
