After the government gave relaxations for the industry sector to function, all the spinning mills which are fully private party owned started to function. Whereas 7 NTC mills in Tamil nadu continue to remain closed. This has made workers upset. Trade unions have stressed the NTC head office to take needy actions ensuring all the NTC mills to start functioning. In spite of various requests the NTC mills are not reopened. Upset of the continuing negligence office bearers of all trade unions have decided to meet the Textile secretary soon.
HMS union, state secretary, T.S.Rajamani said, "It is really worrying that the NTC management is not showing interest in reopening all the mills. At present the market is very good. All the private spinning mills are making use of it and increasing their production. Whereas the NTC mills in Tamil nadu continue to remain closed. This is not fair. Hence office bearers of all trade unions have decided to meet the Textile secretary soon.
At present on an average each worker under permanent category gets Rs 14,000 and more as Salary every month. Since the mills are temporarily closed, all the workers are provided with half a month salary. Since this is not sufficient to meet their financial needs, all the workers are reeling under financial crisis. We hope our initiative would help in reopening all the NTC mills in Tamil nadu very soon."
