Coimbatore MP PR Natrajan has allocated the regional development fund to stock up books at the government school libraries in the city.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore MP PR Natrajan has allocated the MP development fund to stock up books at the government school libraries in the city. The event for handing over the books happened today in Coimbatore.
The allocated fund of Rs.4 lakhs were used to buy books of various sections like social sciences, science and astronomy which will help in the development skills of students.
The event for handing over the books took place at the St. Micheal school in Coimbatore today. Coimbatore District Educational Officer Usha headed the event and MP PR Natrajan was the chief guest of the event.
Each school was were given books worth of 25,000. The books were given to 16 government schools in Ondipudur, Singanallur, Sidhapudur, Oppanakarar Street, Ramanathapuram, Rathinapuri, Chinnathadagam, Vellikinaru, Irugur, Kannampalayam, Sulur, Manikarampalayam, Kalapatti, Townhall, Udayampalayam and Seranayakampalayam.
The books were handed over the headmaster/headmistress of the respective schools. MP Natrajan who spoke at the event thanked the teachers and the school officials for their hardwork in helping the children to have a bright future. He also said that political leaders like him are fighting for the 7.5 percentage reservation just to help the students get what they deserve.
Further speaking he also said that government schools in Coimbatore are able to achieve top ranks because of the hardwork of the students and teachers. He also added by saying that books from Bharathiyar Publications are given as they are the best publishers and also because books complete a person. He also said that reading makes a person complete and helps him love more. He also requested the students to use them accordingly to improvise their knowledge.
The Coimbatore District Educational Officer Usha in her address said that the development of government schools are happening not only because of the educational department but because of the good souls who are continuously supporting us. She also said that books are equally important to a school as how the building and teachers are important.
She also mentioned that the ₹4 Lakh rupees spent on books should be well used by the teachers who then will be able to guide the life of the 5 lakh students studying at government schools.
She also said that due to the teacher's efforts 15 government school students have got the medical seats. We are very proud because now tribal students without electricity, students whose parents are auto drivers are now being able to study further.
She also said that teachers should read more books and that books make a person gain so much knowledge and helps them overcome all troubles.
She also ssid from her personal experience, many school libraries have books which haven't been touched at all and that the Tamil saying "padithu kizhi" actually means to be well read.
