Joint Council of Associations of Coimbatore decide to meet central ministers condemning abnormal price increase of raw materials

Coimbatore: Since the abnormal price hike of raw materials has pushed all the manufacturing industries to crisis, industrialists of the Joint Council of Associations from Coimbatore have decided to meet the central ministers in person for immediate action.

Various industry associations namely CODISSIA, ICCI, CII, IIF, SIEMA, COINDIA, TAPMMAA, Lagu Udyog Bharati, COTMA, KOPM have together formed 'Joint Council of Associations of Coimbatore'. Press meet was organised by this council on Thursday at 'SIEMA' auditorium, Race course, in which office bearers of the above said associations participated.

SIEMA President K.V.Karthik said, "We thank prime minister, minister of finance, MSME Minister, for having released a sum of Rs 3 lakh crores as collateral free automatic loan for business inclusive of MSMEs. The bank has offered a 20% loan under a guaranteed emergency credit link scheme for MSMEs.

These have immensely helped to come out of their financial crisis to some extent during the 'Covid-19' outbreak. Post pandemic outbreak the price of raw materials especially steel and other allied materials are witnessing abnormal price increase.

Due to this we are unable to fulfill prime minister vision for Atma Nirbhar Barat -Self reliant India movement. The situation in all the manufacturing industries is getting worse every day. Hence on behalf of this council we have decided to meet the central ministers in person and urge the needy action to be taken at the earliest.

'CODISSIA' President Ramesh Babu said, "The abnormal price hike of raw materials has made a huge impact on the entire MSME sector. As per the current situation all the industries can sustain only 30 days. If no action is taken before that then the impact would be very bad which would reflect on the living of many lakh workers who have got job opportunities in various industries. 'SAIL' yard at Coimbatore near Peelamedu was closed for railway flyover construction works. The flyover itself has been opened for transportation but still the yard has not been reopened. During our meet with the ministers we would stress this issue also"

'KOPMA' President, Maniraj, 'COTMA' President, SivaKumar said,"We represent the micro industries sector and our sector is the one very badly hit due to the 'Covid-19' outbreak. In this situation now the abnormal price hike of raw materials have added more burden on us. On behalf of our Council we would be requesting the central ministers to 'FIX MRP PRICE for ALL RAW MATERIALS' which would be the permanent solution to this issue."

Office bearers of various industry associations such as IIF, Lagu Udyog Bharati who are a part of the joint council of associations of Coimbatore also attended and spoke during the press meet.
