Burglary incidents in Coimbatore are continuing to rise despite beefed up patrolling by the police.

Adding to the recent list of burglaries and theft incidents, burglars striked a house near Saravanampatti on Tuesday night and eloped with 9 soverign of gold ornaments and Rs. 50,000 cash.
Of late, Coimbatore is witnessing an alarming increase in theft and burglaries. Despite CCTV cameras and increased police patrolling, burglars manage to break-in houses, and theives threatening motorists and pedestrians to hand over cash and cell phones.
In a recent incident, a youth was killed near Coimbatore airport, after he denied to give his cell phone to a gang who intercepted their two wheeler. The incident shook the public who are left in panic due to the ongoing crime incidents.
Vijayakumar (50) a resident of Lakshmi Nagar, Chinnavedampatti was left in shock, after he saw the front door of his house broken, jewels and cash looted. According to reports, a couple of days ago, Vijaykumar left to his relative's function and returned back on Tuesday morning to only see his found burgled.
Based on his complaint, the Saravanampatti police along with forensic staff arrived to the spot and collected the finger prints. The police also retrieved the CCTV footage from a nearby location tofind more clues regarding the burglary.
The Saravanampatti police has filled a case and are further investigating the burglary.
