Coimbatore: Anti Corruption Officials in a sudden raid have found around ₹2 lakhs of bribe money at the Karumathampati Municipality Office in Coimbatore district.
The Anti Corruption department said to have received complaints on Executive officer Selvaraj (52) who is said to have been taking bribe from the public for various tasks in the Municipality Office.
A team headed by Police Superintendent Arumugam and others including Parimala devi and Ezhilaras with the help of police officers conducted the search inside closed doors.
During their search in Executive Officer Selvaraj's office, the officals found found bundles of cash which was seized and checked.
While the official returned ₹3 lakh 50 rupees were accounted for the government treasury, the officals also found rupees ₹2 lakhs and 2,000 rupees which has not been accounted for.
On further investigation the officials found that this amount was given as a bribe by Pavunraj, who had paid the bribe to get the settlement certificate while registering for a property.
The Anti Corruption Officials have filed a case against executive officer Selvaraj for further investigation. The officals being caught by Anti Corruption officers has created a stir at the Municipality office.
