Coimbatore: Two young men who were riding on their motorcycle near SIHS Colony behind the Coimbatore International Airport were stopped by a gang of robbers who wanted their personal belongings.
Coimbatore: Two young men who were riding on their motorcycle near SIHS Colony behind the Coimbatore International Airport were stopped by a gang of robbers who wanted their personal belongings.
The robbery went bad leaving one killed and the other heavily injured. This incident which happened last week created panic amidst the locals.
In the murder case of, Vignesh (22) who hailed from Theni district and Sujith (30) from Valparai were working nearby while working in a Coimbatore based firm. Last week while visiting their friends, Vignesh and Sujith were stopped by the robbery gang who asked them to hand over their personal belongings and cell phones.
While Sujith gave in, Vignesh was not ready to give away his phone, fought with the robbery gang and was injured with a knife causing him to bleed heavily. Vignesh was then declared dead while on his way to the hospital for treatment. Sujith who was the other victim in this incident managed to escape with a few injuries.
Police who were suspecting a 6 member gang are now investigating the two members who surrendered. Post investigation Abi Vishnu (22) fromMaskalipalayam and Singaravelan (21) from Periyar Nagar have confessed to have been associated with the incident.
The police officials took the case to trial. This case was at trial in court yesterday and Judge Gnasambantham sentenced the accused in police custody till the 10th of December.
