Tirupur: A protest was held on behalf of the Indian Medical Association in Tirupur condemning the permission given to Ayurvedic medicine to perform surgery. The central government has listed 58 types of modern surgeries as 'salya' and allowed Ayurvedic doctors to perform these treatments.
Doctors from the Indian Medical Association protested in front of the Tirupur railway station, urging the central government to immediately consider repealing this as the ayurvedic doctors without adequate knowledge of the antibiotics to be given after treatment without any prior training in a situation where surgical methods depend on modern medicine could endanger life of patients.
The doctors also said that if the central government did not consider their demands, they would go on a 24-hour boycott of work on the 11th and engage in a struggle.
