Vishwakarma activists throw a slipper and set fire to a portrait of DMK Deputy General Secretary A. Raja

Coimbatore: Vishwakarma activists threw a slipper and set fire to a portrait of DMK Deputy General Secretary A. Raja. With assembly elections due next year, DMK leader MK Stalin has launched a campaign "Vidiyalai Nokki". During the campaign, Stalin has been criticizing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy who has also been retaliating

A few days ago, DMK general secretary A. Raja had spoken about various criticisms of former chief minister Jayalalithaa and the Tamil Nadu chief minister. He had questioned whether the Chief Minister was ready to have a face-to-face discussion with him as he had claimed that the DMK is a corrupt party. At a press conference in Virudhunagar yesterday, Tamil Nadu Dairy Minister Rajendra Balaji lashed out at the DMK. Condemning this, DMK workers in Virudhunagar set fire to a portrait of Rajendra Balaji.

Coimbatore district Vishwakarma gold jewelry workers staged a protest against DMK deputy general secretary A. Raja for slandering the AIADMK.

Then they raised slogans against Stalin and called the DMK a corrupt party.

Protestors smashed Raja's portrait with sandals, set it on fire and tore down Stalin's portrait.

There was a tussle between police and protestors when police tried to confiscate the posters from them.

Speaking to reporters, the Coimbatore district Vishwakarma organization said that A. Raja, who swindled 1.76 lakhs of crores of rupees in the 2G case, was unfit to criticize the AIADMK and that there would be repercussions if he continued to slander the AIADMK.

Government guidelines for COVID-19 are under question as both the DMK and the AIADMK continued to hold events during the coronavirus pandemic without observing social distancing.
