SRIT Coimbatore Signs MoU with IIT Palakkad to Boost Academic and Research Collaboration

Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology Coimbatore signed an MoU with IIT Palakkad on 19 August 2026 at Nila Campus. The partnership aims to strengthen academic collaboration, joint research, faculty exchange, student engagement and innovation between both premier institutions.


Coimbatore: Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology (SRIT), Coimbatore, has entered into a strategic academic partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad (IIT Palakkad) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening collaboration in academics, research and technological innovation.

The MoU signing ceremony took place on 19 August 2026 at the Nila Campus of IIT Palakkad. The event witnessed the participation of key dignitaries from both institutions, underscoring the shared commitment to foster academic excellence and research-driven growth.

Dr Sundar Ramakrishnan, Managing Trustee of SNR Sons Charitable Trust, Coimbatore, attended the ceremony alongside senior officials from IIT Palakkad including Dr Arvind Ajoy, Dean of Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research, Dr Bibhu Ranjan Sarangi, Dean Academics, and Dr Sukomal Dey, Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering. Representing SRIT, Dr J David Rathnaraj, Principal, along with faculty members, participated in the formal signing.

The collaboration is designed to promote joint research and development initiatives, encourage faculty and student exchange programmes, and facilitate technical training and knowledge-sharing activities. It also opens avenues for innovation-led projects, consultancy services and sponsored research, offering SRIT students and faculty enhanced access to the academic and research ecosystem of one of India's leading technical institutes.

Speaking at the occasion, the leadership of both institutions emphasised the critical role of inter-institutional partnerships in driving academic excellence, innovation and industry-aligned education. They highlighted how such collaborations prepare students to meet the evolving demands of technology and research while contributing meaningfully to societal development.

This MoU represents a significant step forward in SRIT's vision to expand its academic footprint and research capabilities. Through this partnership, the institution seeks to create enriched learning and research opportunities for its academic community, while fostering a culture of innovation, collaborative knowledge creation and impactful contributions to science and technology.
