Garbage from Vellalore will be disposed off and its environment will be protected - Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner

Coimbatore: The Commissioner of Coimbatore Corporation P. Kumaravel Pandian IAS said that steps are being taken to dispose of the garbage that has been brought to Vellalore, Coimbatore for so many days and the environment in the area will be protected.


Coimbatore: The Commissioner of Coimbatore Corporation P. Kumaravel Pandian IAS said that steps are being taken to dispose of the garbage that has been brought to Vellalore, Coimbatore for so many days and the environment in the area will be protected.

A meeting with the Clean India Project Ambassadors and Clean India Lobbyists on Solid Waste Management Works was held at Kalaiyarangam, Coimbatore under the aegis of B. Kumaravel Pandian Corporation Commissioner and Private Officer.

At this meeting, the Commissioner of the Corporation said, "Steps will be taken to differentiate compostable and non-compostable waste places ward-wise for better solid waste management improvement in Coimbatore Corporation. There should be no littering in the sewers and on the sidewalks. He said the Tamil Nadu government should create awareness among the public about the use of alternative materials instead of the one-time use of plastics.



Similarly, steps should be taken to provide biodegradable waste for the improvement of the microbiology function. Make compost by keeping compostable garbage at home and set up a home garden to reduce the amount of garbage coming to the corporation. Steps will be taken to dispose of garden waste in a scientific manner. He said that non-compostable waste should be segregated and handed over to the cleaning staff.

Also, the amount of garbage coming to Vellalore should be reduced. In Vellalore, steps are being taken to dispose of the garbage that has been brought in for so many years thus protecting the environment in the area. The Commissioner advised the Swachh Ambassadors to create awareness to take action to separate the recyclable waste coming from the businesses. He consulted with the Swach Ambassadors regarding the steps to be taken for the creation of a Garbage Free Ward and Garbage Free City.

Lakshmanan, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Raja, Executive Engineer (Smart City) Saravanakumar, All Zonal Assistant Commissioners, Bharathiyar University Professor Dr. Rupa Gunaseelan, All Zonal Health Officer present‌‌.
