Velmurugan murdered his wife Surya Prabha over constant fights are arguments.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Court on Friday, awarded life sentence to a man for murdering his wife in Coimbatore.
Velmurugan (38) who was a labourer from Thangachimadam, Ramanathapuram district along with his wife Surya Prabha (32) from Thiruvidamarudhoor, Thanjavur district moved toNSR area in Kavundampalayam, Coimbatore looking for a change with their children.
With no proper pay, Velmurugan sent their children, a boy and a girl to an orphanage to study further. Post this it is said that there was repetitive fights and quarrels between Velmurugan and Surya Prabha which went bad one day.
It is said that June 10 Velmurugan and his wife Surya Prabha had an argument over which Velmurugan killed his wife by chocking her to death using a cable wire.
This horrific incident was then investigated by Inspector Devaraj, Periyanaickenpalayam police department who then filed a case against Velmurugan who fled immediately after murdering his wife.
10 days after the murder, Velmurugan surrendered himself at second JM court in Madurai. The Periyanaickenpalayam police then arrested Velmurugan and sent him to the coimbatore central jail.
The case was tried at the Coimbatore Special Bench courtby government advocate Nagaraj. Justice.Gunasekaran later announced the verdict and sentenced Velmurugan to life in prison along with a thousand rupees fine.
