Coimbatore: Northeast monsoon: 160 mm rainfall so far in Coimbatore, TN Agricultural University says it is less than expected.The northeast monsoon is currently raining in Coimbatore district. The northeast monsoon has been raining since last October. It is expected to average around 315 mm this year. However, the rainfall recorded has been low, according to the Agricultural University.
Ramanathan, head of the Climate Research Center at the Coimbatore Agricultural University, said, “160 mm of rainfall has been recorded in the Coimbatore district so far. The northeast monsoon is heavy. Still, 145mm of rain is expected. The remaining 145 mm of rainfall is expected as the northeast monsoon is likely to last till the end of this month. They said that Coimbatore is not likely to receive any rain due to the storm and only the southern districts are likely to receive rain due to the storm. Agriculture University said, "For Coimbatore, the southwest monsoon is above average. That is why there is enough water in all the water sources”.
