Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Revenue Grama Niladhari Association filed a petition at the Pollachi Collectorate demanding various things including periodic pay.
The Grama Niladharis yesterday filed a petition at the Revenue Commissioner's Offices across Tamil Nadu, emphasizing various demands, including the 40-year demand of the Tamil Nadu Revenue Grama Niladhari Association to provide limited term pay. As part of this, a petition containing the demands was submitted to the Collector's Office in Pollachi on December 2.
They said, "We have been fighting for many years for limited term pay and under the regime of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and Kalaignar we were given some concessions. But the current Chief Minister, Edappadi Palanisamy, has been ignoring village revenue staff for four years. Privileges were given to all government servants during the Coronavirus period. But, we were not given any concessions."
Their petition also included demands like work during the Jamabandhi period requires immediate fulfillment of 11 feature requests, including the Pongal bonus. They added that, "We are also losing the privileges we had for the village revenue staff. The government has reduced the full pension from 100 per cent to 50 per cent." They have warned of continous protests until the government pays heed to their demands.
