A lot of bridges connecting main parts of the city are now under progress. Some of the major bridge works under progress include the Ukkadam to Athupalam bridge, the bridge from Alvernia school to Rainbow bus stop, Mettupalayam Road to Kavundampalayam bridge and Eachanari High bridge.

With the inauguration of this new bridge on Avinashi Road, there are around 5 bridges where the work is yet to be completed.
The new bridge on Avinashi Road is built at an estimated expense of 1620 Crores. The bridge is also built at a length of 10.10 km making it the longest bridge in Tamilnadu. This new bridge on the Avinashi Road starts from Upilipalayam and ends at Goldwins. The inaugural ceremony was held at the Chennai Kalaivanar Arangam which was attended by the Central Home Minister Amit Shah, who via video conferencing commenced the work in Coimbatore.

This longest four way bridge is to be built with a total of 304 pillars. Also the bridge connects crucial points of traffic in Coimbatore like Anna statue junction, Nava India Junction, Hope College Junction and the International Airport. With a smooth entrance and exit to the bridge, this big project is estimated to open for public in the next few years.

The bhoomi pooja happened today at VOC ground and was inaugurated by Minister SP Velumani along with Assistant Legislative Assembly Speaker Pollachi Jayaraman and BJP Kerala Representative CP Radhakrishnan. The inaugural ceremony also had the presence of other legislative assembly members.
