When a journalist present in the crowd asked about the name reason behind Puravi, Director Puviarasan answered as follows " the name Burevi was suggested by the officials of Maldives. In the Maldivian language Dhivehi, Puravi originates from a plant which grows in black marshy land of Maldives. This plant is also known as the Apple of marshy land."
