Tirupur: Addressing a large group of farmers in Tirupur, as part of DMK's 'Vidiyalai Nokki' campaign, MP Kanimozhi and Secretary of the DMK Women's wing slammed BJP TN President L Murugan for calling the protesting farmers in Delhi as intermediaries.
As part of the visit to Tirupur, she interacted with women self help groups and general public of Erode and Tirupur district as a part of her campaign.
During her address, Kanimozhi MP condemned BJP party's Tamilnadu Leader Murugan who earlier compared the farmers who are protesting for their livelihood to intermediaries. She noted that despite harsh waether conditions, the farmers are protesting for their livelihood and future of agriculture in Delhi and other parts of the nation. Belittling their intent, BJP TN President Murugan has called them as brokers or intermediaries, she condemned.
Hailing the farmers of Uthukuli region of Tirupur district, MP Kanimozhi said the hardwork of farmers has made Uthukuli famous for butter production. She met farmers and received their grievance petitions which were mostly against the installation of high power electric grids across farmlands.
Kanimozhi MP condemned that setting up of power grids along agriculture land ruins farming. She also urged to immediately provide the promised compensation to the farmers whose land has been used for power grids.
"The scenario prevailing has made farmers sleep in fear of their land being taken away anytime through State or Central government schemes. Despite causing a slew of troubles, the central government now has come up with agricultural reforms that are bound to question their future", she alleged.
She opined that the farming bill actually sets farming lands on mortgage to the corporates and surprisingly TN CM Edapadi Palanisamy who calls himself a farmer is supporting this new reform which ruins farmers livelihood. Hence, people should co-relate his statements and rethink if they need him as their CM.
