Coimbatore: As part of scheme launched by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy in 2019 of providing free distribution of country chicken breed to rural women, to promote backyard poultry farming, Minister SP Velumani distributed free country chickens to the 1500 beneficiaries in the areas under the Thondamuthur Assembly constituency in Coimbatore, on Wednesday.
Coimbatore: As part of scheme launched by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy in 2019 ofproviding free distribution of country chicken breed to rural women, to promote backyard poultry farming, Minister SP Velumani distributed free country chickens to the 1500 beneficiaries in the areas under the Thondamuthur Assembly constituency in Coimbatore, on Wednesday.

On behalf of the Department of Animal Husbandry about 37,500 free country chickens per family along with maintenance incentives were provided to to 1500 families in areas including Perur, Karadimadai, Boluvampatti, Alandurai, Mathvarayapuram in the Thondamuthur constituency.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister SP Velumani said that the ruling AIADMK government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Edapadi K Palanisamy has been keenly focussing on the developement ov the people in the state. One such scheme is the distribution of free country chickens to rural women. The scheme aims to ensure sustainable livelihood, promote backyard poultry farming, thus create woman entrepreneurs and improve rural economy."

The Minister also briefed on uninterrupted drinking water scheme in the city and commended that the Tamil Nadu has acheived himalayan growth in the past five years.
