Corporation Commissioner fines Hotel owner Rs 2,000 for throwing used banana leaves on roadside
Coimbatore: During a routine inspection, Corporation Commissioner Kumaravel Pandian levied Rs 2000 fine on a hotel owner who recklessly had disposed used banana leaves and wastes on the roadside.
The Commissioner warned the hotel staff and insisted them to seggregate the wastes and hand over to the corporation workers.
On Wednesday, the Commissioner along with a team of Assistant Commissioners and Zonal Officers inspected Singanallur and Subramania Pillai Nagar and enquired to the residents on supply of drinking water and garbage clearing.The Commissioner interacted with theresidents and urged them to co-operate in segregating the wastes and disposing them the right way. He also insisted them not to dump wastes in unused lands and on roadsides, instead only use bins provided by the Corporation.
The Commissioner ordered the removal of billboards placed on the roadside in front of hotels near the Kamaraj Road and bus stand. He also interacted with the hotel, tea shop, bakery, meat and fish shop owners in the area, and sensitised them to dispose garbage as instructed. He added that restaurants should collect waste in drums and deliver it regularly to sanitary workers.
During the inspection, the Commissioner, who saw egg shells and used banana leaves lying on the road in front of a restaurant, fined them Rs. 2000.
Assistant Commissioner Murugan, Assistant Executive Engineer Prabhakaran, Regional Health Officer Chandran and others were present during the inspection.
