Law student drowns to death while playing in a well at a farm in Coimbatore


Coimbatore: In an unfortunate incident, a 22-year-old law student allegedly drowned to death, while he was playing ball with his friends inside a well.

Parthasarathy (54) is from Jakkarpalayam, Pollachi, Coimbatore district. His son Harish, 22, a third-year student at the Law College in Punjab was staying with his parents, due to closure of college due to Covid lockdown.

On Wednesday, Harish left his home to catch up with his school friends Kowshik and Mukund. After meeting them, they all decide to meet another friend Ashwin in Vazhukkaparai area near Madukkarai.

According to reports, after having lunch at Ashwin's farm, the friends planned to play ball in a 60-feet well in the farm. While, they were playing, Harish suddenly suffocated and allegedly drowned in the water. Despite all their efforts to rescue him, the panicked friends had called police and fire service to rescue him.

After hours of rescue operation, the Firefighters recovered Harish's body from the well. Following this, the Madukkarai police sent his body to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for autopsy.

The Madukkarai police have registered a case and are investigating. The untimely death of the student has left their family and friends inconsolable.
