CODISSIA office bearers to meet Collector requesting to handover the halls alloted for 'Covid Care Centre'
Coimbatore: As Covid infection numbers have considerably declined in Coimbatore district, only very few patients are currently under treatment at both private, government hospitals ans Covid Care Centres (CCC). During peak times, three halls belonging to Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) were converted as CCCs to treat asymptomatic patients.
With the infection rate declined from 700 to 150 in the district, the CODISSIA office bearers have decided to meet the District Collector K Rajamani requesting to hand over the halls back.
The industrialists of Coimbatore have always played a pivotal role in overall growth of the city and been very supportive to the government during unforeseen situations. Though the 'Covid-19' outbreak took a huge toll on the industries, trade bodies like Codissia were generous enough to extend their support to the District Administration by handing over halls at the trade fair centre to be converted as covid care centres to treat asymptomatic patients.
The Covid Cate Centre in Codissia has helped thousands of Covid patients recover from the illness and all necessary amenities including toilets and drinking water facility were seamlessly taken care of.
At present only 1,001 patients are undergoing treatment at various Covid approved centres throughout the district, hence the office bearers of Codissia have decided to meet the Collector in a couple of days requesting to hand over the halls back to the association.
Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) President, M.V. Ramesh Babu said, "As per the request, we initially handed over one hall to be used as Covid Care Centre. However due to surge in cases,we handed over additionally two more halls to treat asymptomatic patients.'
At present the overall infection rate across the district has notably reduced and there are only very few patients undergoing treatment at the Covid Care Centre at Codissia. Hence, we have decided to meet the Collector in two days and request him to hand over the halls back to our association, he noted.
"Though it was speculated that the city would witness a second wave after the buzzing festive season during which Covid norms were thrown to winds by the public, fortunately as there is no spike in cases after Deepavali, we have planned to request to hand over the halls", the Codissia President said.
