The Nilgiris: The world famous Ooty mountain rail train is all set to resume operations after a eight month, long halt.

The Nilgiri mountain railway service running between the stations of Mettupalayam and the serene Coonoor route has always been a major tourist attraction in India. Since the nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic, the Southern Railway suspended the train service in the Nilgiris for about 8 months.

However, a private travel agency has now rented the toy train services for the coming weeks to take their customers on a mystical mountain train journey. The private firm has rented the Ooty toy train services from December 5th for which the trial run, happened today.

Earlier, the mountain train resumed service for the shooting of a popular Hindi web series "Out of love".

A trial run has carried out today to cehck the functioning of the mountain train and to ensure the rail tracks are free of any uprooted tree or rock debris.

During the trial run between Mettupalayam and Coonoor, tje officials ensured that the train and the tracks were perfectly fine. Hence, the Nilgiris Mountain Rail is all set to resume for rentals by private tourists.
