According to Superintendent Manivasakam, farmers in the Anaimalai area had brought 361 bundles for sale yesterday. They were graded and auctioned by the authorities in the presence of traders. 195 bundles of first grade copra at a minimum of Rs.11,550 per quintal and a maximum of Rs. 13,010 per quintal were sold. The 2nd grade copra is 166 bundles, with a maximum of Rs. 9,010 and a minimum of Rs.7,550 per quintal. 9 traders and 69 farmers participated in the auction.

For the quintal, this week saw a price increase of Rs.665. The delivery of 29 bundles was less than last week. In total, 173 quintals were auctioned for Rs 18 lakh. Copra production in the Anaimalai area has been lower this week than last week as supply has declined and prices have gone up, he said.
