Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner inspects 'model road' built at a budget of ₹24.36 crores under the Smart City project.
In Coimbatore Corporation, under the Smart City Project, work is in full swing to construct a model road from RS Puram Diwan Bahadur Road to Sukrawarpet Road Junction to Cowley Brown Road at an estimated cost of ₹24.36 crore.
He inspected the works under the Smart City project including road construction, underground sewerage, cable laying, 24x7 drinking water pipe laying, telecommunication cable laying and pavements on both sides. He then told health officials that mosquito repellents should be sprayed in front of shops on both sides of the road to prevent water stagnation and mosquito production in the sewers.
He said that garbage must not be dumped in roads including Mettupalayam Road, Mecricar Road, Poo market, Araji Road, Devangapettai Road, and asked roadside vendors to not dump rubbish on the roads and instead give the garbage to the sanitary workers. He asked them to keep the environment clean. The commissioner said it is mandatory for the public in the area to wear a face mask and follow the social distancing.
City Engineer A. Lakshmanan, Executive Engineer (Smart City Project) Saravanakumar, Urban Planning Officer Ravichandran, Assistant Engineer, Karuppusamy, Assistant Engineer, Kamalakkannan, Drinking Water Division Junior Engineers, Project Management Officer, Board Officer, Gopalakrishnan were present during the inspection.
