Driver killed as tractor overturns with tanker in tea estate in Valparai


Coimbatore: Driver killed as tractor overturns with tanker in tea estate in Valparai.

Tea is cultivated on more than 25 thousand hectares in Valparai, Coimbatore district. Drugs are being developed for the growth of tea plants and for the extermination of mosquitoes and insects. The tractor is equipped with a motor attached to a water tanker and sprayed with long hoses.

Kennedy, 55, was driving a tractor in the Pannimedu Chain Road area this morning spraying drugs at the Pannimedu tea estate owned by Tata. The driver lost control while the tractor was going in Tea Garden No. 26. The tractor overturned with the tanker in a pit about 300 feet deep. Kennedy, who was driving the tractor, was crushed to death on the spot. Sholayar Dam police were informed.



They came to the spot and seized the body and sent it to Valparai Government Hospital for autopsy.



The incident has caused tragedy in the area.
