Public protest to remove road blockade in Tirupur

Tirupur: Public protest to remove road blockade in Tirupur. On the Tirupur-Dharapuram road, dividers were placed in the middle of the road by the police obstructing access to residential areas including Ayyampalayam and Sabari Nagar from the Chettipalayam area.

This makes it difficult to travel from Chettipalayam to the above areas and the public has to go around one kilometer. Public allege this leads to wastage of time and delays for commuters.

The public today engaged in a road blockade on the Tirupur-Dharapuram road today and removed the dividers as the police did not remove the dividers in the middle of the road after several demands from the public.

This caused traffic disruption in the area for some time. There was a brief argument between the police and the public as the public tried to remove the roadblocks themselves. Also, the road leading to the crematorium from the Chettipalayam area is blocked with blocks by the highways. Public demanded to remove it with immediate effect. Police said action would be taken after the highway department was notified.
