Ammasai, a woman from Sivananda Colony, Coimbatore, passed away in 2011. Police registered a case and were investigating.
During the police investigation into the murder of Manivel, a resident of Ramanathapuram, Coimbatore, it was revealed that a woman named Ammasai was killed by Coimbatore-based lawyer ED Rajavel, his wife and his associates.
The police investigation revealed that Mohana, the wife of lawyer ED Rajavel, was involved in a financial institution scam in Odisha and there were five cases against Mohana in Odisha in connection with the scam and ED Rajavel tried to save her.
In this case, it was revealed that the woman, who came to him in connection with herproperty issue, was killed by lawyer ED Rajavel with the help of his aides Ponraj and Palanichamy. Also, he has deceived everyone by showing the body of the deceased mother as that of his wife Mohana who had died. He had even obtained a death certificate from the corporation.
Later, lawyer ED Rajavel closed the case against his wife by showing the death certificate in Odisha. Police arrested ED Rajavel and his wife Mohana in 2013 after it was revealed that the woman had been killed during the investigation into Manivel's murder. Meanwhile, the case was being heard in the 5th Additional Court of Coimbatore and the verdict was delivered today.
In it, Judge Mohammad Farooq convicted the accused lawyer ED Rajavel, his wife Mohana and aide Palanichamy. Ponraj, the 4th accused in the case, has turned into an abusive witness and is being tried as a separate case.

The judge also ordered to pay Rs 1.20 lakh compensation to the family of the murdered woman
