Coimbatore: Wall murals in Pollachi municipality ahead of centenary year celebration. Pollachi was declared a Level 2 municipality on November 1, 1920 by the British. Following this, it became operational as a municipality on November 20 of the same year. Pollachi municipality, which currently has 36 wards, has completed a century.



To commemorate this centenary, the newly constructed Municipal Office and the surrounding walls are being painted with paintings that symbolizes Pollachi area among the people. Paintings depict the Ambarampalayam River flowing through the coconut groves, the Nilgiris Tahr playing on the hills, the monkey waterfall, the Valparai tea plantation, the elephant, the majestic tiger sitting in the forest, the railway station and the traditional game of Rekla.



Pollachi people are enjoying the paintings and also that the tourists visiting Pollachi should also see the Pollachi landmarks through these paintings. According to the municipal administration, the paintings are being painted so that future generations will not forget these iconic spots.
