Murder suspect confesses of murdering two others in the past; remanded in Coimbatore prison
Tirupur: In a shocking revelation, a murder suspect during investigation revealed that he had murdered two others in the same manner, in the past and disposed their bodies. Tiruppur Police arrested him and remanded him at Coimbatore Central Prison.
Izakkimuthu from Thoothukudi and his friend Shankar from Madurai had been staying in a rented accommodation in Tirupur and working in a garment factory.
Based on the complaint from the neighbours of foul smell emanating from their house which remained locked, the Tirupur police (north) rushed to the spot and found that the smell had been coming from a cement tank inside the house.
When they opened the tank lid, they found a male corpse in a decomposed state floating in the water. After examination, the body was identified as Izakkiuthu and his friend Shankar had gone missing.
Subsequently, when the police searched for Shankar, they found that we was arrested by Coimbatore Police in connection with a murder case and was remanded in judicial custody at Coimbatore Central Jail.
Following this, the police filed a petition in the court seeking permission to take Shankar in custody and interrogate him. The court granted one-day permission to take police custody of Shankar.
During interrogation, more shock awaited the Police, as Shankar confessed that he had killed Izakki and two others in the past in a similar manner. In 2018, he had reportedly murdered two men from Vengamedu area and Annuparpaalayam area in Tirupur district and recently killed his friend Isakimuthu.
The Tirupur North police booked Shankar in the murder cases and later produced in the court and lodged him in Coimbatore jail. The incident has sent shock waves amid the people and the police department.
