On November 14, the teaser of Master was released. Since then, the teaser has garnered several lakh views. While the movie was likely to hit the screens in April, the plans got changed due to the Covid pandemic. The movie was supposedly to be released in theatres by January 2021, however the OTT news has left the fans surprised.
Contrary to this, the director of the film Lokesh a few months ago, confirmed that the film will release only in theatres. and there is no chance of the film releasing on any OTT platform.
According to India Today, a source close to the production, has said, "It's true that the streaming rights of Master have been sold to Netflix. However, the makers are yet to decide on the film's release."
Reports claim that the distributor of the film, Seven Screen Studio's Lalit Kumar, has sold the streaming rights to Netflix for a huge amount. However, it's still unclear if the film will skip theatrical release and only take the OTT way.
Master is produced by Xavier Britto, starring Vijay, Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Andrea Jeremiah, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and Arjun Das in the lead roles.
