Coimbatore: Coimbatore received heavy rain two weeks ago and this increased the water supply to the ponds. The Noyyal too overflowed to the delight of the farmers but it did not rain after that.

Also,  cold and foggy climate was witnessed during night times. After the announcement that Nivar Cyclone will hit TN shores, people were expecting it to rain here in Coimbatore too but rains eluded us.

Moreover it was rather sunny from yesterday morning until evening with hot temperatures throughout the day. At around 8 pm the sky became overcast. Light showers started at  Ukkadam, Racecourse, Pappanayakkanpalayam, Siddaputhur and Ganapathy after 9 pm.

Similarly, heavy rain lashed areas including Kuniyamuthur, Sundarapuram, Kovaiputhur, Karumathampatti, Somanur, Periyanayakkanpalayam, Veerapandi division and Pothanur after  midnight. This incessant rain cooled the city too.

Areas including Sulur, Irugur and Chinniyampalayam received scattered and moderate rains for the last two days. Due to this, the climate in those areas was pleasant.
