20-year-old boy commits suicide allegedly over one-sided love affair in Annur

Annur: A 20-year-old boy was found hanging from a tree in Annur on Saturday morning. Police sources said that M. Manikandan (20) had taken the extreme step over a one-sided love affair.

Coimbatore: A 20-year-old boy was found hanging from a tree in Annur on Saturday morning. Police sources said that M. Manikandan (20) had taken the extreme step over a one-sided love affair. 

Manikandan from Kallakurichi was working as a driver in the Kumarapalayam area next to Anuradhapura in Annur. He had been staying in a rented house with his friend. On the night before the incident, Manikandan had allegedly been speaking to a girl whom he was in love with. After the call, he had lamented to his friend that the girl has refused to accept his proposal. 

Distressed by this, Manikandan allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree near the house. Upon information, Annur police rushed to the spot and recovered Manikandan's body. A case has been registered under Section 174 and an inquiry is underway.
