Gang of theives stab motorist to death; two special teams formed to nab murderer.
Coimbatore: In a daring murder near Coimbatore airport on the early hours of Friday, a gang of theives have allegedly stabbed a motorist to death, after he refused ro give them money.
T.Vignesh ( 25) is employed at an IT firm in Kalapatti. He resides in parktown area close toCoimbatore Airport. At around 1.30 AM on Friday, Vignesh along with his friend Sujith (30), from Valparai were on their motor cycle ro visit another friend near Brindavan Nagar.
While they are nearing Brindavan Nagar, their vehicle was forciblystopped by four men who threatened them at knife point to give money and valueables. Panicked by their threat, Sujith confessed that he did not carry money hence handed over his expensive cell phone to the robbers. However, Vignesh refused to give money or his cell phone and confronted them.
Enraged by this, one of the member of the gang stabbed Vignesh with a knife in his neck and snatched his cell phone. Seeing Vignesh slide on the ground andSujith yell for help, the gang eloped from the spot.
With the help of the passersby, Vignesh who was battling for his life was rushed to a private hospital in the same area where he was declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, the Peelamedu police who rushed to the hospital and the crime sceneconducted an investigation.CCTV footages retrieved from the nearby spot showed a gang of four men speeding in a motorcycle.
The Peelamedu police have registered a case under Section 302,392,397 and are searching the culprits. Upon orders from the City Police Commissioner, two special teams have been formed ro nab the gang. The incident, which took place this morning, has caused a stir in the area near the airport.
