Keep your surroundings clean, don"t dump garbage on roadsides - Corporation Commissioner interacts with shop keepers
Coimbatore: Keeping the city clean is the biggest challenge faced by the Coimbatore Corporation. Possibly, all measures taken by the Corporation in the past to address the issue, has possibly ended up in vain, as people continue to recklessly dump garbage on roadsides.
Undoubtedly, cleanliness of a city cannot be acheived without its citizens cooperating with the corporations by means of seggregating wastes or dumping garbage in appropriate bins.

In a bid to educate the masses on this, Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer, Kumaravel Pandian
during his inspection to the North Zone, Ward No.29 Saravanampatti, Sivanandapuram Madalayam Road Janatha Nagar sensitised the public and shop keepers to dispose the garbage, the right way.

He inspected the timeliness in clearing garbage in those areas and advised the grocers or florists in the area to refrain from dumping garbage and wastes in a reckless manner. He warned them not to dump loads of garbage in sewers which leads to clogging of water during rainy days.
He interacted with the public and sensitised them to keep their surrounding clean and not to forget the Covid norms of social distancing and wearing masks.

Addressing the poultry sellers in Ward 29, Commissioner, Kumaravel Pandian strictly warned them not to dispose poultry wastes on roadsides and in sewers. Instead advised them to collect the wastes in a bin and hand it over to the sanitary workers during their routine garbage clearing schedule, the next day.

Seeing garbage being dumped by a shop located on Police Colony Road, North Zone, Ganapathy, VOC Nagar, he imposed fine on the shop owner. Later, he inspected the field workers engaged in door-to-door Covid awareness campaign at police colony under Ward No.41.
He instructed the field workers to ensure those housholds affected by Covid-19 should be isolated and a notice be placed on the doors. The Commissioner told that those infected with Covid-19 should not leave their house, even if they are completely asymptomatic. The isolation period is crucial to break the chain of the outbreak, he told.

Zonal Assistant Commissioner Senthil Kumar Rathinam (North), Zonal Health Officer Ramachandran, Health Inspectors and Corporation officials were present during the inspection.
