Eswaran, 24 hails from the Masinagudi Vazhaithottam area in the Nilgiris district. Meanwhile, on March 26, 2018, the mother of a minor girl had lodged a complaint that Eswaran had raped her 16-year-old daughter, after marrying her at a temple near Kalkuvari in the area.
Based on the complaint, Eswaran was booked under POCSO act for marrying a minor and for sexual abuse. For the past 18 months, the case has been going on at the Nilgiris court.
Finally, on November 26, 2020, Justice Arunachalam sentenced the accused to 3 years imprisonment for kidnapping a minor girl, 1 year for child marriage and a total of 10 years for sexual assault. Following the verdict, the 24-year-old was imprisoned in Coimbatore jail.
