The Nilgiris: Special Voters list Observing officer for the Nilgiris District M Karunakaran chaired a review meeting at the Nilgiris District Collectorate, today. Discussions were held on various activities being carried out on behalf of the State Election Commission, ahead of the forthcoming 2021 Assembly elections.
The Nilgiris: Special Voters list Observing officer for the Nilgiris District M Karunakaran chaired a review meeting at the Nilgiris District Collectorate, today. Discussions were held on various activities being carried out on behalf of the State Election Commission, ahead of the forthcoming 2021 Assembly elections.

In view of the upcoming state elections, the Election Commission of India has appointed 10 IAS officers to monitor the ongoing special summary revision of photo electoral rolls 2021. The appointed observers will monitor the revision process in the districts allocated to them. Accordingly, M. Karunakaran, Director of Handlooms & Textiles, has been appointed for Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tirupur and Erode districts.
During the meet, District Collector J. Innocent Divya inaugurated the special camps for voter list. Representatives of various political parties,DMK, AIADMK and various parties have set up booths in the respective areas of the camp and checked the voter list.

Following this, a review meeting was held today at the Nilgiris District Collectorate under the chairmanship of Dr. Karunakaran. The meeting was attended by various government officials including the District Collector.
It may be recalled that the final electoral rolls list was released by Nilgiris District Collector J. Innocent Divya in February 2020. According to the updated voters’ list, there were a total of 5,76,691 voters in the Nilgiris with 2,78,204 male voters, 2,98,479 female voters, and eight third gender voters.
