Road accidents involving stray dogs on the rise; six dogs poisoned to death in multiple areas in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Around six stray dogs were poisoned to deathin Podanur's GT Tank Road, Eswari Nagar, Anbu Nagar, Vadivu Nagar here. Police are investigating.
According to public, stray dog menace has increased multifold in areas close to Podanur and Chettipalayam. Especially, during the night hours, several motorists have sustained serious injuries, as these stray dogs chase them or run between the roads. Mostly they roam in packs and feed on the poultry wastes disposed along the outskirts near Podanur- Chettipalayam road.
They also opine that motorists, especially those riding two-wheelers are the most affected by the menace, as it is difficult to sight the dogs from far.
Today, six stray dogs were found dead at different places in the Podanur area. Upon information, the police arrived to the spot and found that the dogs died after eating meat stuffed with poison. Podanur police are investigating.
