Ammavasai Murder case: Judgement to be given on 30th
Coimbatore: The verdict in the Ammavasai murder case which caused a stir in Coimbatore is to be given on the 30th.
The case
Marimuthu and his wife Ammavasai (age 45) are from Sivananda Colony. She was burnt to death in December 2011 in the office of lawyer Rajavel. Police investigation revealed that Rajavel's wife and lawyer Mohana had committed fraud through financial institutions in other states. As police were looking for her, Rajavel along with his friends burnt Ammavasai, who had come to his office regarding a family case and portrayed that it was Mohana who had died and tried to close the case against her.
Rajavel also obtained a death certificate from the corporation claiming that the deceased was his wife Mohana. Following this, the police arrested Rajavel, Mohana (47), Ponraj (47) and Palanisamy (45) in 2014. The trial of the case has been going on for the last 9 years in the Coimbatore Fifth Additional Sessions Court. With the completion of the witness hearing, the final argument between the government and the opposition was completed. Judge Mohammad Farooq announced today that the verdict will be announced on the 30th.
