DMK leader Stalin has proved his values and vision by choosing a dedicated team to protect the environment - Karthikeya Sivasenapathy
Coimbatore: DMK Leader MK Stalin, has announced a separate team to protect the environment considering the crucial need for it. Karthikeya Sivasenapathy, Secretary, Kangeyam Animal Husbandry Association, has been appointed as the first secretary of the team. Karthikeya Sivasenapathy who joined the DMK recently is one of the stalwarts credited with spearheading the historic Jallikattu protests.
He said “for thousands of years, Tamils have maintained an environmentally friendly lifestyle and ecological knowledge of the Tamils continues to emerge in the Sangam literature and in Thirukkural.
They reiterate on why we need to protect the environment and create water sources and rainwater harvesting. He said, "It gives me immense pleasure that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) have formed a team for the environment and appointed me as the first secretary of the team". He said the party has realized that the destruction of the environment could adversely affect the common people.
He promised to strive to make Tamil Nadu a green ecological state and a pioneer of India. He invited all the nature activists to collaborate with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam to protect the environment through water resources development, planting trees etc. He said they can work together to protect the environment through the team. He pointed out that one hundred years ago how the Dravidian movement worked for social justice, education, economic development, etc., and now realizing the need of the people of Tamil Nadu they have once again proved that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is the only movement in India to take the necessary steps in keeping with the present times.
He said, "The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is the only organization in India that has set up a separate team for the environment. Though all other parties will now create a team for the environment, it is DMK leader Stalin who first pioneered it and shows his values and vision."
He added, "I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Stalin and his leadership for giving me the opportunity to be Secretary of State for the Environmental Protection Team," he said.
