Coimbatore: According to IMD, severe cyclonic storm, 'Nivar' is likely to cross the Tamil Nadu coast between Karaikal and Mamallapuram on November 25.
The depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a deep depression on Monday, with the weather system likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during the next 12 hours and into a severe cyclonic storm during the subsequent 24 hours.
As the State is bracing for Nivar Cyclone, precautionary measures have been geared up in full swing at Pudukottai, Nagercoil, Tanjore, Thiruvarur, Cuddalore, Villupuram and Chengalpattu districts from 1 pm from today all buse services for these places have been suspended. The ban will remain in place until further notice.
Meanwhile, the Agro Climate Research Centre of the TNAU has predicted that Coimbatore district may likely experience overcast skies and mild to moderate rainfall for the next 2-3 days.
Ramanathan, Head of the Meteorological Research Center in TNAU said, "The skies in Coimbatore will be cloudy due to Nivar Cyclone. Coimbatore is likely to receive only moderate rainfall."
