Coimbatore: Two north-indian workers arrested for poaching wildlife. The Anaimalai Tiger Reserve in Valparai, Coimbatore district is home to a large number of wildlife. The practise of poaching wild chicken and deer using nets are prevalent here. There have also been few instances where leopards were trapped in these narrow nets. Following this, patrols have been intensified on the orders of Anaimalai Tiger Deputy Director Arokiaraj Xavier.

It was found that explosives and nets were placed in Siru kunra Tea Estate under Manampalli Wildlife Sanctuary. They were arrested following an intensive investigation by the Forest Department which revealed that the north indian workers Mushil Nakashia 32 and Haziram 32 were behind this. Following the investigation, the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve Deputy Director General was informed and the two offenders were fined Rs 25,000 each.

The culprits were later acquitted. Manampalli Wildlife forest officer Manikandan told reporters that the respective tea estate managers would be fully responsible for the crimes committed in the tea estate area and warned that stern action would be taken against them if any crimes were found.
