Five Maoists were arrested in 2016 in the Karumathampatti area of Coimbatore district. One of them, Veeramani, was released on court bail from the Coimbatore Central Jail last August. He has been living with his wife in Pullukattu area in Ukkadam since then.
He protested saying the police are forcing the landlord to make him vacate the rented house. He also said police are constantly monitoring and oppressing him. He then chanted slogans condemning the police and lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore District Collector
