Coimbatore: Three people, including a woman, were arrested for selling brass jewelry plated with gold near Sulur. Sulur police received a tip-off that a gang who had rented a house in a farm near Sulur next to Coimbatore was selling gold-plated brass jewelry.
Coimbatore: Three people, including a woman, were arrested for selling brass jewelry plated with gold near Sulur. Sulur police received a tip-off that a gang who had rented a house in a farm near Sulur next to Coimbatore was selling gold-plated brass jewelry. On the orders of Karumathampatti Police Superintendent Suryamoorthy, Sulur Sub-Inspector Murugan and the police conducted an investigation in the Pappampatti area next to Sulur.
It was then revealed that there were 3 people including a woman living in a farm and they were from Andhra Pradesh. Police immediately rounded up the house where they lived. Upon learning of it they tried to flee from there. But the police rounded them up. At trial, the three were identified as Upathulla Srinivas of Andhra Pradesh, his wife Upathulla Ramana and Patta Suresh. It was also revealed that they had sold brass jewelry in several parts of Coimbatore district with gold plating and even pawned it.
Sulur police have registered a case under Section 420 and arrested all the three. 4 sovereigns of gold jewelry was confiscated from them. All the three arrested were produced in court and remanded in the Coimbatore Central Jail. Investigations have revealed their accomplices were hiding in Andhra Pradesh. Special team led by Sulur police sub-inspector Pandiyaraj rushed to Andhra Pradesh to nab their accomplices.
