The BJP held a public meeting at the Vidyalaya area on Palladam Road in Tirupur on the occasion of the Vel Yatra. Public meetings are held on behalf of the BJP across Tamil Nadu. Former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan and actress Khushbu had attended the public meeting. As the police had refused permission for the Vel Yatra public meeting, Pon Radhakrishnan and actress Khushbu got up on auto in front of the stage and spoke to the volunteers.
Former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan said that the Vel Yatra was not a BJP struggle or a political struggle but a struggle to protect the identity of Tamils and that 80 million Tamils who were fighting against the black crowd. He also said that a case should be filed against those involved in the Periyar yatrai that incited violence. He added that an anti-corruption campaign against the DMK would begin when the Vel Yatra ends in Thiruchendur on December 5.
Actress Khushbu said that the BJP has so far given Rs 67,000 crore to Tamil Nadu and that Modi is not a leader who will go abroad and take a break without meeting the people. She asked if the DMK could tell people not to go to the temple and said that even DMK and Congress were also participating in the Vel Yathra

Participants were taken in police vehicles to a private wedding hall. There was a scuffle between the police and the BJP when the two were arrested and taken away.
