BJP state President L Murugan has announced that the Vel Yatra will be held at the seven houses of Lord Murugan in Tamil Nadu. However, the Tamil Nadu government did not give permission for the Vel Yatra. However, despite the ban, state president L. Murugan started the Vel Yatra on the 6th of this month.
Vel Yatra is being held on behalf of the BJP in all the districts of Tamil Nadu.

As part of this, the Vel Yatra was planned to be held today in Udagai, Nilgiris District under the leadership of Nilgiris District Chairman Mohanraj.

Party volunteers, executives and more than two thousand BJP workers participated. State Vice President Nainar Nagendran was present. Earlier, he told reporters that there was a public outcry over the Vel Yatra in Tamil Nadu and that the BJP alliance with the AIADMK would win more seats in Tamil Nadu in the coming elections.
He also said that the forthcoming elections in Tamil Nadu would be challenging for all parties. Opposition parties such as the DMK are seeking to blame the ruling party. He said that in the 60-year policy of the Dravidian parties, a large number of people are now joining the BJP holding on to spiritual principles.
Also, heavy police security was put in place in the Udhagai ADC area due to the BJP-led rallies. Following this, BJP state vice-president Nainar Nagendran, district general secretary Eeswaran, district chief Pappanan, Udagai city chief Praveen, Coonoor mayor Kungumaraj, women and workers were among those who attempted to carry out the Vel pilgrimage in defiance of the ban.
