Coimbatore: The director of a financial institution committed suicide by setting himself on fire due to losses in business.
According to the police, Rajagopal (70), a resident of Bharathiyar Road, Palladam, Vadugampalayam, was running a financial institution. The financial institution seems to have suffered losses over the past few months. Also, his wife is said to be suddenly missing.
Thus, Rajagopal has been suffering from mental anguish. On the day of the incident, Rajagopal had come from Palladam to Mettupalayam Nellithurai Bhavani river area. Then, when no one was there, he suddenly poured kerosene and set himself on fire.
Shortly afterwards, passers-by informed the Mettupalayam police. Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to Mettupalayam Government Hospital for autopsy.
Following this, the police have registered a case under Section 174 and are conducting an investigation.
