Coimbatore: Public appreciated Coimbatore Inspector who came forward to help corporation school students who secured MBBS seat.
Sastha Somasekar (age 37) has been working as a sub-inspector in several police stations in Coimbatore for the last 5 years, including Peelamedu, Kuniyamuthur, Podanur, Ukkadam, Saravanampatti and Race Course. He was promoted to inspector last year. He has also serves in the Police Special Team. Presently he has been ordered to relocate to the west zone following which he is on leave.
He posted on his Twitter page yesterday his cell number and announced that he is ready to financially help a corporation student who could not afford to pay for medical studies. Students from many districts have contacted him and asked for help. Sastha Somasekar said that the Chennai High Court had issued an order a few days ago asking politicians, film actors and lawyers should come forward to help corporation school students who are struggling to make it to the medical school.
He said he tweeted to lend his contribution. He claimed that many have contacted him after his tweet and other police officers have also offered to help. He said, "This makes me very happy and this work would continue every year." Sastha Somasekaran was widely appreciated by both the public and police for this gesture.
