Parent complains of child abduction; police rescue child from mentally ill woman
Coimbatore: Tense moments prevailed in Kovaipudur area for a brief time, after father of a 3-year-old child complained that his child was abducted. The police found the child in the same area and handed over to the parent.
An auto driver from Kovaipudur area, dialled to the police control room alleging that his 3-year-old boy child has been kidnapped by a woman. The Kuniamuthur police who came to investigate inquired the father of the child and learnt that he had seen a woman carrying his child, while he waa enroute to drop a passenger.
After returning, he checked on his child and found him missing. The panicked father then called the control room and sought help. Based on his inputs, the police searched the child in his area and found the child within 6 hours.
Investigations revealed that the child was abducted by a mentally ill woman next door to the auto driver.
Following this, the police handed over the child to the auto driver and pacified him. The mentally-ill woman was handed over at a rescue home and no case was filed.
The public in the area appreciated the police for handling the situation carefully and rescuing the child.
