Elephants which roamed the area 10 days ago were electrocuted and this morning, a 13 - year - old male was trapped in an illegally erected electric fence in a private garden in the old Udagai (Old Ooty) area of Udagai.
The incident has caused a stir in the area and forest officials are conducting a serious investigation. The people of the area expressed their grief that the dead bison had wandered around the old Ooty area in old age. They said it had never harmed people so far, dying after being stuck in the electric fence is saddening.
