Coimbatore: Coimbatore MP PR Natarajan today inaugurated the construction of rainwater drainage in the 42nd ward of the Coimbatore Corporation with an allocation of Rs 14.9 lakh from the Coimbatore Parliamentary Constituency Development Fund.

Sellammal Nagar is located in Subbanayakkanputhur, 42nd Ward, Coimbatore. There are hundreds of residents are in this area. The area has been without rainwater drainage facilities for more than 25 years. “Despite various attempts by V. Ramamurthy, a councilor of the Marxist Party, the project was not implemented due to alleged discrimination in the allocation of funds by the corporation.” said MP PR Natarajan.
In this scenario, the people of the area requested Coimbatore MP PR Natarajan to allocate block development funds for the construction of storm water drainage.
Accordingly, he has allocated Rs. 14.9 lakhs for the construction of storm water drainage in Sellammal Nagar. Coimbatore MP PR Natarajan initiated the work on today.
Coimbatore Corporation officials Johnson, Muthukumar and Marxist Party Coimbatore District Secretary V. Ramamurthy, former Member of Parliament UK Vellingiri, CPM SS Kulam Union Secretary R. Gopal, former Communist Party of India Member of Parliament M. Arumugam, District Deputy Secretary Sivasamy and Vijayalakshmi were present on the occasion. Shankar, Anandan, Bakiaraj, DMK Ward Secretary Kandasamy and many others participated.
